Step by step
- Open Documents and select the company, client or project context you want.
- Click Upload documents or use the upload area to add files.
- Wait for upload and reading to finish. Reading/indexing is separate from receiving the file.
- Use the Folders controls to create a folder or subfolder when needed.
- Open a document and select its Folder, or use the available move control. Check its client/project link separately.
- Return to the intended folder and scope to verify the file is where you expect.
Folders and work context serve different purposes
A folder helps organize the library. Client and project links connect the file to the work it belongs to. Check both when a file is hard to find. Client and project pages also have their own upload actions.
After uploading
The file may show Reading and indexing document… before its extracted content and search results are ready. Inspect the error and use Retry reading on a failed document. Check the company’s storage allowance if an upload is blocked.
Check the result
A file can be correctly linked to a client but still be Unfiled. Folder placement and client/project context are independent.
Open the saved file, confirm its title and folder, and preview or download it. Content indexed means extracted content is available; Metadata indexed means the file was stored with searchable metadata, not necessarily readable contents. Keep the original file if you need to retry an interrupted upload.
Before you upload
You need document creation permission to upload and editing permission to reorganize files. Documents is a company library: client/project placement is work context, not a private sharing setting. If Google Drive is connected, review its scope before adding sensitive files.
Labels use the English interface. Available pages and actions depend on your company, plan and permissions.
