Store and share a login in the Vault

Step by step

1. Open Vault and click New login.
2. Enter a name that identifies the service, along with the username/email and website.
3. Enter the password or click Generate, then add any notes you need.
4. Review visibility. If sharing with selected people, check each recipient before saving.
5. Save, then locate the entry by its title, username or site.
6. Open it and use reveal or copy as needed. Reopen sharing controls when changing who should have access.

Find and use it

Search by title, username or site. Open the entry and use the available reveal or copy controls. Being able to see a page in the app does not grant access to every private entry.

Share deliberately

Vault entries can be private, shared with selected people or company-wide according to the available controls. Review the sharing label and selected people before saving changes. Removing an entry is different from changing who can access it; use the delete confirmation only when you want the stored entry removed.

Check the result

The saved entry should display the intended audience. A company role does not automatically make every private Vault entry visible.

Verify access and use the secret

1. Choose Save login, then find the entry by name, username or site.
2. Open it and choose Show to reveal the password or Copy to use it. Show notes reveals stored secret notes.
3. Review the audience before saving sharing changes. Recipients need Vault access as well as access to the particular entry.

Limits and recovery

Generating a password here does not change the password at the external service. After changing a service password, update the stored login separately. Revoking Vault access cannot retract a password someone already copied; rotate that password at the service when offboarding requires it. If a secret cannot be revealed, keep the record and report the error; deleting it is not a recovery method.
