Connect Google Drive and review sync conflicts
Connect your document library to a Drive folder, check progress and choose which copy to keep when files conflict.

Connect the right account
- Open Documents, then choose Google Drive near the page controls.
- As a company owner or admin, choose Connect Google Drive and authorize the intended Google account. If the control says Google Drive is not set up yet, ask your administrator to configure the integration first.
- Choose Choose folder. Browse to the folder you want, then confirm the scope shown. Review this carefully: the Documents library, including existing files and new uploads, syncs with the chosen Drive location.
Check a sync
- Return to Documents → Google Drive and review the connected account and folder.
- Choose Sync now to queue a check. App changes also sync automatically; Drive is checked periodically, so changes may not appear immediately.
- Read the last-sync time and any error message. Use Reconnect if authorization needs to be renewed.
Follow the first download
Confirming a folder starts its first sync without waiting for the periodic Drive check. A progress panel at the top of Documents shows folder discovery, files checked and downloaded, and the final save. It survives a page refresh. Documents appear when the sync finishes; search preparation continues afterward. If the sync fails, use Retry sync. In guided setup, prepared folders begin downloading when you launch the setup.
Resolve a conflict
- Open Documents → Google Drive and identify the file or folder listed as conflicted.
- Compare the copies. Download copies first if you need to preserve both: your decision overwrites the other version on the next sync.
- Choose Use Drive copy to keep the Google version, or Keep local copy when offered to keep the Documents version.
- Wait for sync and reopen the document to check its contents. Google-native files must be edited in Drive; they do not offer Keep local copy.
Disconnect without deleting your files
Choose Disconnect and review the confirmation. Synced files remain in Documents and disconnecting does not delete files from Google Drive. Disconnecting is different from deleting a synced document.
Clear an accidental import and change folders
- As an owner or admin, choose Documents → Google Drive → Danger zone → Clear library and change folder. To stop after clearing, use Document options (•••) → Danger zone → Clear library on the Documents page.
- Review the company, document and folder counts, then type DELETE. This permanently clears the entire GoodCompany Documents library, including uploads and locally created documents. Google Drive originals stay untouched.
- Wait for Stopping sync → Clearing library → Complete. You can close the dialog or refresh and return to the cleanup progress. If cleanup fails, use Retry cleanup; sync stays stopped.
- Choose and confirm the replacement folder. Its subfolders and the whole Documents library will sync both ways. Cancelling the picker leaves sync stopped, and your Google sign-in is retained.
Scope and access matter
An owner or admin manages the connection. Select a writable folder. Its files and subfolders become available to company members with document access and are processed for the library. Existing and new Documents files also sync to that location; this is not limited to files you upload after connecting.
Change location or recover from a conflict error
Changing an already chosen sync location requires disconnecting, reconnecting and selecting the new location. Existing local files remain, so review what will sync to the new location. If a conflict says the Drive copy is trashed, restore that copy in Drive first. If the conflict changed during review, refresh and compare the current copies again.
Deletion is different from disconnection
Deleting a synced file can propagate to the other side. Download anything you need before confirming deletion. Disconnect removes the connection while keeping the synced Documents files and does not delete the Drive files. Use Reconnect for expired authorization, and Sync now to queue a check once a location is selected.
