Step by step

  1. Open Documents and choose All documents if you may be in the wrong folder.
  2. Clear client/project filters that do not apply to the file you need.
  3. Search for the title, a tag or a phrase in the contents. Try Semantic search when you want meaning-based results.
  4. Open the result to preview it, or click Download to retrieve the file.
  5. If the document reports a reading error, open it and use Retry reading when available.
  6. Check Background AI if reading is still in progress. Recheck search after indexing finishes.

If reading failed

Open the document and read its displayed error. Use Retry reading if available. A file that is still reading may not have its full extracted text in search yet; Background AI shows related processing.

If you are cleaning up files

Open a library document and use its delete action to remove that file and its extracted text/search data. Review the document title before confirming permanent deletion.

Check the result

Newly uploaded content may not be fully searchable immediately. A failed reading job and an empty search result are different states.

Check what was indexed

A file labelled Metadata indexed may be searchable by title and tags without searchable body text. A preview limitation is different from a missing original: try Download. If a file remains unreadable after Retry reading, check the original outside GoodCompany and preserve it while you report the problem.

Labels use the English interface. Available pages and actions depend on your company, plan and permissions.
