Step by step
- Open Clients, choose the client, then click Add project.
- Enter a project name and description that distinguish this engagement from the client’s other work.
- Add aliases, domains, dates or notes where useful, then click Create project.
- Open the project from the client’s project list. Choose Documents and use the Upload to project dropzone for files that belong to this engagement.
- In Milestones, click Add milestone, enter its outcome and target date, then click Add to the plan.
- Open a milestone to add a delivery checklist, owner, priority and supporting files. Link daily work to the project from the task editor.
Keep the project distinct from the client
A project represents a named engagement. General client files belong at client level; project-specific files belong in the project. The project page also shows its contacts, delivery plan, emails, incoming bills and issued invoices.
Set a delivery plan
Open the project’s Milestones to create checkpoints with optional dates. Each milestone can hold comments, files, an assignee, a checklist and linked tasks. Planning mode controls whether checkpoints run in sequence or use prerequisites. Sidekick can propose a plan from a contract in Documents; review its proposal and the resulting plan.
If you need to change the details
Use Edit project on the project. The Project actions menu contains the build and delete actions. Check client/project links on tasks, emails and documents when context is missing. Read any delete confirmation carefully; deleting a project is different from marking its work done.
Check the result
The project should show the correct client and its own files and delivery plan. Editing the project does not automatically correct unrelated records’ client/project links.
Open the project from the correct client. Confirm the description, dates, contacts and document links. Finishing the project’s tasks does not itself deliver its milestones, record client acceptance or prove payment.
Before you start
Creating a project requires client creation permission. Editing its plan requires client editing permission. Linking a task also requires task access. Files and financial records have their own permissions, so a teammate may see the project without every linked record.
Labels use the English interface. Available pages and actions depend on your company, plan and permissions.
