Step by step
- Open Tasks and click New task. A dialog opens above your board.
- Enter a clear title and brief. Choose a column, priority, due date and responsible person; optionally link a client and project.
- Add a start date, an estimate in minutes, comma-separated labels and a blocker note where useful.
- Under Break it into small steps, type an item and click Add. Add the remaining checklist items, then click Create task.
- Choose Board or List. With Manual order and filters cleared, drag a card or its dotted handle to arrange tasks. On touch screens, use the handle. Keyboard: focus a handle, press Enter, use arrows, then Enter to place or Escape to cancel.
- Click + Column to add a stage. Choose its name, status behavior and accent. Use ••• beside a column name to edit it; deletion requires another column with the same behavior to receive its tasks.
- Click a task to view its details. Choose Edit task, make changes and click Save changes. Use Mark done when the outcome is ready.
Find the work you need
Use task search and the assignee filter to narrow the board. If a task is missing, check whose tasks are selected and whether it was cancelled. Cancelling and completing are different states.
Keep the record current
Click a task to open its modal, then choose Edit task → Save changes. Checklists break work into smaller steps; finishing the checklist does not automatically complete the task or its linked milestones. Mark done completes it; Cancel task records cancelled work.
Arrange your workflow
Click + Column to name a new stage, choose its status behavior and accent. Use the column’s ••• menu to rename or change it. To delete one, choose another column with the same behavior to receive its tasks. Keep at least one column for each status. Background updates use the first compatible column in board order.
Move work accessibly
With Manual order selected and filters cleared, focus a task or column handle and press Enter. Use arrow keys to choose a position, then Enter to save or Escape to cancel. A stale edit shows an error and refreshes the current data; review it before retrying.
Check the result
Task and column ordering survives a refresh. Checked steps do not automatically complete the task or its linked milestones. Column names can change, while their status behavior keeps reminders and email-created work consistent.
Open the saved task and check its title, assignee, due date and column. A checklist is a way to track smaller steps. Mark done records completion of the task; it does not record client approval or settle an invoice. Use Reopen task if work is still needed.
Before you start
You need permission to create tasks; changing existing tasks and board columns requires task editing access. Tasks are available across the plans. An assignee must belong to the current company. Choose the client before its project.
If an update does not stick
Read the error and reopen the task to see the latest saved version before changing it again. Another teammate may have updated it. If dragging is unavailable, check the sort and filters or use the task’s column selector.
Labels use the English interface. Available pages and actions depend on your company, plan and permissions.
