Why an import stays in review

Warnings prevent automatic booking. The import can report that booked transactions do not agree with the closing balance or that the opening balance differs from the previous statement’s closing balance. That can indicate a parsing issue or missing statement period.

Step by step

  1. Open Settings → Accounts and find the statement in the import list. Read its warning or error.
  2. For an import in Review, choose Review. For a failed import, use the Retry … failed control above the list; the count tells you how many failed imports will be retried.
  3. In Review, compare the opening and closing balances, dates, payees, descriptions, amounts and currency against the original PDF.
  4. Check the destination account. Correct the editable rows or use Remove row for an incorrect entry. Removing a review row does not delete a transaction that was already committed.
  5. Choose Commit … rows only after the rows agree with the source. If a balance warning remains, Commit anyway (I checked the rows against the PDF) explicitly accepts the discrepancy.
  6. Open Transactions for the selected account and booking period. Check the committed result and any skipped duplicate rows.

When reading failed

Use Retry … failed after checking the displayed error, the original PDF and any allowance or subscription warning. This retries the failed imports listed, not just one selected row. If the source is unreadable, upload a readable original as a new import and check for duplicates before booking. Do not delete a committed import just to retry reading: its delete confirmation also removes its booked transactions and their matches.

Check the result

The warning should be resolved or deliberately acknowledged before booking. Booked transactions should match the statement you reviewed.

Before you change rows

You need import viewing and editing access, plus access to the destination bank account. Create the correct account in Settings → Accounts if it is missing; do not choose another account simply because it has the same currency.

A committed warning needs a different review

A committed statement may show a balance difference or a gap from the previous statement. Use its view link to inspect it and compare the booked Transactions with the PDF. Check for a missing statement period or duplicate/missing bank rows. A committed file cannot be committed again through the review flow.
