Before you start
You need access to the source conversation and the linked Tasks or Calendar records. Changing a task or applying a meeting change also requires the corresponding edit permission. A message can be downloaded before its analysis and linked work are complete.
Follow the message into its work
- Open the conversation in Inbox, then expand Work connected to this conversation when it appears.
- Open a linked task. Compare its title, status, assignee and date with the source. Suggested deadline · based on urgency is an inference; Deadline stated in the email identifies a date taken from the message.
- Open a linked event and check its date, time and source. A Task deadline is different from a Meeting; do not assume every calendar entry is an appointment.
- For Review task, choose Review in Tasks and read the proposal before accepting or dismissing it. Check for an existing task with the same outcome first.
- For a meeting review, compare Currently and Proposed with the message. Choose Apply reviewed change only when offered and correct, or Dismiss. If the change needs manual work, choose Open Calendar and inspect the event.
- If the panel reports failed follow-up work, choose Retry analysis and wait for progress. A queued retry has no guaranteed start time. The panel updates while open; return later if analysis is still running.
What may happen automatically
Email analysis can create or update tasks and events without a separate interactive Sidekick approval. Other changes require review. Not every email should create work: spam, messages without a clear action, ambiguous changes or old meeting details may be skipped or held for review.
The panel groups work connected to accessible messages in the conversation. A later reply may update an existing task or meeting. Always compare the latest source with the current result before making a manual duplicate.
If expected work is missing
Check Tasks → Needs review, mailbox history-analysis choices and Background AI. If no useful work or pending analysis exists, the connected-work panel may not appear. You can create a task or event manually after checking for duplicates. If a meeting changed since its proposal was prepared, inspect the current event rather than trying to force an old proposal to apply.
Check the result
The linked task or event should agree with the actual request and open successfully for your role. Verify inferred deadlines, timezones and responsibilities. Completing a task does not itself confirm project acceptance or payment.
