Step by step

  1. Open Settings → AI and click New skill, or choose the upload option for a SKILL.md file or its ZIP folder.
  2. Use a name containing lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, up to 64 characters.
  3. Write a description that explains both what the skill does and when the assistant should use it.
  4. Add clear instructions and any relevant supporting files, then save.
  5. Check the enabled state and use the enable/disable control if needed.
  6. Open Sidekick and make a request that matches the skill’s description. If it is not used, review the description and enabled state.

How the assistant uses it

The assistant sees the names and descriptions of enabled skills and loads their full instructions when relevant. Supporting files can supply more context. A clear description helps the assistant choose the right instructions.

If a skill is not being used

Check that it is enabled and that its description matches the request. Confirm that the upload saved successfully. Viewing, editing and deleting skills depend on permissions. A skill supplies instructions; it does not bypass action approval or access controls.

Check the result

An enabled skill provides instructions when relevant. It does not bypass company permissions or the approval required for proposed changes.

Verify a skill with one real request

After saving and enabling a skill, ask a small question that matches its description, then review the output against the instructions. Use a fictional example while testing. A skill is reusable guidance; saving it does not itself schedule recurring work or grant access to more company data.

Labels use the English interface. Available pages and actions depend on your company, plan and permissions.
