Choose the right copy after a Drive conflict.

Maya edits Willow Bakery’s homepage copy in GoodCompany while Leo changes its Drive copy. North Studio needs to keep the agreed wording.

Agree which content should survive

Have access to both copies. Ask the owner or admin to manage the Drive connection if needed. Before selecting a winning copy, preserve any content you still need using the available download or copy options.

Inspect, choose and synchronize

  1. Open Documents and find the file by title or client/project filter. Check its content and saved edits.
  2. Open Google Drive and inspect the reported conflict. Compare the Drive copy with the Documents copy.
  3. Choose Use Drive copy if that is the agreed version, or the app-copy option when offered. Google-native files may have different available options.
  4. Follow sync status, then reopen the document and verify the agreed wording. Keep a short handover note identifying the approved file.

Confirm the content, not just the status

A cleared conflict should leave the intended content in the resulting file. If authorization has expired, use Reconnect and recheck the result. Sync now queues a check; it is not an immediate completion guarantee.

Review scope before reconnecting elsewhere

The chosen folder can synchronize existing library files and new uploads. Disconnect does not delete Drive files or remove synced Documents files. Deleting a synced item is a separate operation with synchronization consequences.
