GUIDE 15 / TEAM
Hand over work before someone leaves.
Leo is finishing his contract with North Studio. Maya wants Willow Bakery’s next action and shared business records to remain usable after he leaves.
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE AWAY
A useful next step,
not another open tab.
- Decide what the company still needs
- Complete the handover before removing access
- Check the outcome with a remaining member
- Do not confuse leaving, cancellation and deletion
Decide what the company still needs
Use the company being handed over. Review assigned tasks, milestones, source connections and shared credentials. Request any needed company archive while access permits it, and check the downloaded copy before proceeding.
Complete the handover before removing access
- Reassign unfinished work and leave a task comment identifying the next action. Check milestone responsibility separately.
- Review personal and shared mailboxes, calendars, conversations and Vault entries. Have the continuing colleague confirm access to needed sources.
- If the owner is leaving, invite the successor if necessary and wait for acceptance. The owner uses Ownership → Transfer ownership and confirms the company name.
- For removal, use the member’s Remove action and read its confirmation. For your own departure, use Leave company and read that separate confirmation.
- Have a remaining member verify assignments and connection status. Remove or rotate external access separately where the departing person should no longer have it.
Check the outcome with a remaining member
Ownership transfer makes the former owner an admin. Member removal and leaving have different mailbox consequences: shared mailboxes can transfer on removal, while leaving disables your connected mailboxes. Do not rely on automatic handover for the sources the team needs.
Do not confuse leaving, cancellation and deletion
Leaving removes your membership; cancelling changes billing; deleting the company removes the workspace. Company export requests and leaving remain available during read-only billing access, subject to permissions and ownership checks. If either fails, retain the displayed message and contact support; do not delete records to work around it.

Adapt this starter in a project note or document. Copying it does not change your workspace.

NEXT GUIDE
Get back in, then recover interrupted work.
Maya replaces her phone while North Studio’s import is running. She first restores account access, then checks what finished before starting anything again.
ContinueGOOD QUESTIONS
A few specifics.
Will removing a member delete the company records?
Company records remain, but assignments and connection access can change. Review the removal confirmation and verify the handover.
Can the only owner simply leave?
Transfer ownership to an existing member first, or deliberately use the separate company-deletion process when that is truly intended.
