GUIDE 10 / CLIENTS AND DELIVERY

Make the next file easy to find.

You should not need to remember who uploaded a file to find it again. A consistent name and the right project context do more than another deeply nested folder.

WHAT YOU’LL TAKE AWAY

A useful next step,
not another open tab.

  • Names explain what the file is for.
  • Client and project context narrow the search.
  • The handover explains which version matters.

Prepare the workspace

You need document permissions, storage capacity and the client/project records you will link. Google Drive connection changes require owner or admin access.

Example: North Studio

North Studio stores Willow Bakery’s brief, working copy and approved handover file with Website refresh. “Willow Bakery: approved homepage copy” is a suggested title, not an automatically created document.

Start from the client or project

  1. Open Documents and use the client or project filter to narrow your library. If you are already in a project, use its document area to work with that context.
  2. Upload the supporting files through the dropzone. On smaller screens, open Folders when you need the folder browser and Filters when you need more search controls.
  3. Open a file to inspect its title and details. Use a clear title such as ‘Willow Bakery: approved homepage copy’ so the purpose is visible in search results.

Keep the folder structure easy to scan

Use a few folders that reflect the work: brief, working material and handover. These are suggested names, not folders GoodCompany creates automatically.

Avoid naming every upload ‘final’. Put an agreed date or version in the title when it helps distinguish revisions. The library is a place to organize files; this routine does not assume automatic version control.

Leave a map of the finished work

  1. Create a document or project note listing the approved deliverables, any outstanding decision and where the supporting files live.
  2. Search for one deliverable by title to check that another person can find it.
  3. Before sharing outside the workspace, review the actual sharing or download options available for that record. A project association is not a public link.

Check the outcome

Find a file by title and client/project filter. Open it to check the content. Save editor changes before navigating away; a preview alone does not confirm your edits were saved.

Avoid a common mistake

A Drive conflict needs a deliberate choice of the copy to keep. Inspect both copies before resolving it. Disconnecting Drive keeps synced files; deleting a synced document is a different action.

GOOD QUESTIONS

A few specifics.

Will these suggested folders appear automatically?

No. Create only the folders that help your work. The guide suggests an organization routine; it does not change your library.

Can I follow this guide on a phone?

Yes. Use More to reach Tasks, Clients or Documents. The same records and permissions apply; folders and extra filters may be inside expandable controls on smaller screens.
